When to Replace

  • Inspect the belt if you notice fraying, cracks, or chunks missing from the outer fabric or rubber.
  • Replace if the belt shows signs of glazing (shiny appearance) or hardening due to heat exposure.
  • Replace if the mower deck experiences reduced blade speed, inconsistent cut quality, or frequent slipping during heavy cutting conditions.
  • If the belt has stretched beyond the adjustment range of the tensioner, it must be replaced to maintain proper drive performance.

Installation Tips

  • Lower the mower deck to the lowest position or remove the deck from the unit for easier access to the pulleys.
  • Release tension on the belt tensioner pulley using the appropriate tool before attempting to remove the old belt.
  • Ensure the new belt is properly seated in the grooves of all pulleys, including idlers and spindle pulleys.
  • After installation, manually rotate the blades or pulleys to confirm the belt is tracking correctly before engaging the power take-off (PTO).
  • Run the mower at low throttle for several minutes to allow the belt to seat fully before resuming normal operation.
